Senior Java Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Java Engineer to support the modernization of a large-scale Java ecosystem, assisting with the migration of 4,000+ applications to the latest Spring Boot versions, upgrading from Gradle 8 to Gradle 9, and supporting the transition from Java 17 to Java 25. You will collaborate with engineering teams across the organization to troubleshoot migration issues, resolve compatibility blockers, and contribute to build optimization and dependency management at enterprise scale. The role requires flexible hours to overlap with US team schedules.

What you will do

• Support the Java ecosystem modernization;
• Assist with the migration of 4,000+ applications to the latest Spring Boot versions;
• Upgrade applications from Gradle 8 to Gradle 9;
• Support the transition from Java 17 to Java 25;
• Collaborate with teams across the organization to assist with migrations.

Must haves

• +4 hands-on years of experience with Java;
• Experience migrating applications to Spring Boot 3 and Spring Boot 4;
• Experience upgrading Gradle;
• Experience migrating applications from Java 17 to Java 25;
• Deep understanding of the Java open-source ecosystem;
• Experience troubleshooting and resolving application migration issues (e.g. Datadog, Splunk, New Relic, or similar);
• Strong collaboration and communication skills;
• Ability to work flexible hours to overlap with the US team;
• Upper-intermediate English level.

Nice to haves

• Experience with large-scale application modernization or migration projects;
• Experience automating application migrations;
• Familiarity with AI tools;
• Familiarity with build optimization and dependency management;
• Experience working with enterprise Java applications at scale.
