What you’ll do here
- Harden and maintain container images for compliance-driven distribution channels.
- Build and mature Terraform modules and Helm charts used to deploy Coder in customer environments.
- Own reference architectures, keeping them accurate as the platform evolves and enterprise deployment patterns shift.
- Improve the upgrade experience for our users, making it more seamless, predictable, and reliable.
- Contribute to architecture decisions and collaborate with teams across engineering.
- Mentor other engineers, sharing what you know and raising the quality of the team’s work.
- Hold a high bar for code quality, security, and performance in everything you ship.
What we’re looking for
- 5+ years in infrastructure or platform engineering, with direct ownership of deployment artifacts that users or internal teams depend on.
- Hands-on experience with Terraform, Helm, and container images.
- A proven record of shipping infrastructure used by large enterprise customers.
- Strong technical depth across Linux, Kubernetes, containers, and Infrastructure as Code.
- Experience with at least one major public cloud: AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- A solid understanding of IP networking, HTTP fundamentals, and distributed systems.
- Experience designing CI/CD pipelines and working with observability or monitoring systems.
- Strong judgment around security, reliability, and long-term maintainability.

- Experience with compliance-driven or hardened image work.
- Significant professional experience with our tech stack.
- Prior work on developer tooling.
- Public open source contributions.
- Experience designing reference architectures for enterprise infrastructure.
