Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable, high-availability systems and APIs.
- Develop and maintain enterprise web applications.
- Work across backend and frontend development to deliver product enhancements.
- Apply REST API design principles when developing software solutions.
- Adapt to different technologies and frameworks as required.
- Work effectively within a development team.
- Collaborate across teams and organisations through effective communication.
- Coach developers and support colleagues in achieving their best work.
- Apply problem-solving and debugging skills to resolve technical challenges.
Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years experience developing enterprise web applications.
- Experience working on public clouds, with GCP preferred, but AWS, Azure, etc. also acceptable.
- Proficient in backend web development using technologies such as Typescript, Python or Java.
- Experience with front-end development using Javascript frameworks/libraries such as React.
- Ability to work with multiple languages.
- Proven ability to adapt to different technologies and frameworks.
- Relational database skills with MySQL or other RDBMS databases.
- Knowledge of REST API Design Principles.
- Good verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to collaborate across teams and organisations.
- Ability to coach developers and get the best out of your colleagues.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and debugging ability.
- Experience with version control systems – GIT.
- Computer Science or Software Engineering related Degree is the minimum tertiary level qualification expected for this role.
Nice to haves
- Previous work experience in a startup environment.
- Working knowledge of QA methodology, CI testing techniques and approaches.
- Knowledge of NoSQL databases.
- Knowledge of Linux operating systems.
- Experience building and testing automation using tools such as Ansible, Jenkins, JUnit, Codeception, Selenium or similar.
- Knowledge of Material Design.
- Knowledge of module bundlers such as Webpack or similar.
- Experience with geospatial data.
